Adventures of the Seoul Part II

We were hurried to a taxi and told that the nearest hospital was an hour away. The ground in Seoul was completely covered in snow, and we looked quite foolish in our tropical travel regalia. We were taken to a fairly antiquated ER. I was leading Eriola, trying to keep a hold of our passports, and describe to her what was going on without telling too much. Since she was receiving treatment, I omitted a few details of what was going on around us. I saw a harried assistant toss of a bag of blood onto a console keyboard and run off. Things like that.

Eriola saw the staff ophthamologist who gave her the diagnosis of Corneal Erosion. Since he also tried to give her a new prescription, we weren't sure if the diagnosis was correct. Beaten down and tired, one of us semi-blind, we left the ER, found a cab, and told him to take us to a hospital near the airport.

As luck would have it, he didn't understand and took us to a 4-star hotel near the ER. We were in no position to fight after being awake for 24 hours. We hoped to get some sleep, and do research and find another doctor the next day. The intense pain in her eyes prevented Eriola from getting any sleep, however.

  1. Ah, the memory of the ER ophthalmologist testing me for new lenses because my vision was blurry.. it makes me laugh now, but not so funny that night.
